Worth The Wait
The Worth the Wait curriculum was developed by healthcare professionals, attorneys, and educators. It is based on medical and legal facts and teaches abstinence as the expected standard for teens.
The curriculum is spiral in nature in that each grade builds upon the next, but can be used as a stand-alone product.
The 6th grade provides an introduction to puberty, teen pregnancy and STDs. Proactive life skills and goal setting are also part of the 6th grade.
The 7th grade is more detailed, specifically regarding STDs and legal matters. Role-playing and refusal skills are taught at this grade level.
In the 8th grade, the most detailed information is given on STDs,
teen pregnancy, and the laws concerning teens and sex. Peer pressure, goal setting, role-playing and setting limits are all covered. The high school edition goes into greater detail for the older student and includes a section on healthy relationships.
Activities designed to reach all types of learners (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) are incorporated into each grade level.
Sample lessons include:
* Teens' Emotional Needs
* Puberty/Anatomy Review
* Pregnancy -Impact on a Teen's Life
* Parental Responsibilities
* STDs
* Sex and the Law
* Goal Setting
* Relationships and Marriage
